The First Wednesday Series

The Upton Association celebrates “America 250” with a program about Ohio suffragist Frances Jennings Casement for their “First Wednesday” speaker series at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1. Mrs. Casement was from Painesville in Lake County. Her husband John was a Civil War General and was instrumental in the building of our transcontinental railroad. Because of her activism in the women’s suffrage movement, Frances Casement was inducted into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001. Alexandra Lausin, Executive Director of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum in Cleveland, will portray Mrs. Casement. The program will be at the Harriet Taylor Upton House at 380 Mahoning Avenue in Warren. Refreshments will be available beginning 1/2 hour prior to the program.
