Summer Events Around Warren’s Courthouse Square

There’s no place like downtown Warren’s Courthouse Square in Northeast Ohio for a wide array of fun summer events!

At the heart of Warren is Courthouse Square, the centerpiece of a vibrant and blossoming downtown. And in the summer, Courthouse Square is the place to be for longtime favorite festivals, and a few new favorites, too! Enjoy the music, the art, the vendors – and of course the food – at these events on Courthouse Square.

JUNE 7 – 9: African American Achievers Heritage Festival

Many consider the Trumbull County African American Achievers Association festival the real kickoff to summer in downtown Warren. As its name suggests, this festival has been celebrating African American heritage for 38 years. Every evening you can enjoy delicious food, rides, vendors, great entertainment – and a parade! This year, you can also catch The Ohio Players at 6 p.m. on June 8 at the Warren Community Amphitheatre

JUNE 7: Black & White On Park Art Show

Black & White on Park is a staple show in Art on Park’s annual series featuring works by local artists. An opening reception at 6 p.m. at 170 North Park Avenue includes live music. Come and browse the best monochrome work Trumbull County’s artists have to offer – most art is for sale! Afterwards, you can take a stroll around the square and grab dinner at The Underground Lounge, West & Main, or CharBenay’s Wine on the River, or drinks at Modern Methods brewery.

JUNE 15: Pride in the Valley

Does the Valley have pride? You bet it does! Full Spectrum’s Pride in the Valley is a celebration of acceptance and all things LGBTQ+. Warren’s most colorful festival started in 2019 with the goal of spreading the message that all people have the right to live life to the fullest. The festival kicks off with a parade around the square and includes a variety of vendors, food, drinks (alcoholic and not), and live shows, including drag performances. The festivities last from noon until 10 p.m.

JUNE 22: Chalk on the Walk

The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County’s Chalk on the Walk turns Courthouse Square into a real work of art! This afternoon festival is perfect for the whole family. Chalk is provided and kids and adults alike are encouraged to doodle or draw on the sidewalk. When you’ve finished your masterpiece, check out the crafts from local vendors, jam to some music, and grab a bite to eat! The fun starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m.

JULY 18-21: 91st Annual Italian Festival, Niles

The festival at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Niles, 381 Robbins Ave., is a cherished tradition with delicious foods that you simply cannot skip. Enjoy parish favorite foods like pizzas, sandwiches, calamari, and, of course, the cheese puffs and twists! This fest is full of family-friendly entertainment, games, and rides including bingo and bocce.

JULY 24-28: Warren Greek Festival

Celebrate Greek culture and cuisine at the Warren Greek Festival! This annually-anticipated event at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 3223 Atlantic St. NE, is a community favorite. Grab some delicious Greek dishes, ride a few rides, and experience the warm hospitality that Greek culture is renowned for.

Fridays in July: Noon in the Park

This free concert series is the perfect way to spend a warm July afternoon. Catch local bands playing live on the square at lunchtime every Friday. Bring a picnic or grab a bite to eat from Saratoga, Nova Coffee Co., or Beautiful Whirl’d and enjoy the music.

AUGUST 8 – 11: Warren Italian-American Festival

If you can’t tell from Trumbull County’s fantastic Italian restaurants and the Italian Food Trail, the county has quite the Italian heritage. Sometimes considered the last big festival of the summer season, the Italian-American festival has brought good eats, rides, and music to Courthouse Square since 1985. Grab a drink and enjoy the D.J. in the beer tent, get acquainted (or reacquainted) with Italian culture at the heritage displays, or cheer on the Miss Italian and Jr. Miss Italian contestants. And of course, who can forget the main attraction – the bocce tournament! This festival also has a bit of bang – fireworks go off at 10 p.m. on August 10.

AUGUST 10: Youth Art Day

Come celebrate Trumbull County’s talented young artists. In its second year, this event hosted by the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County features visual art and music created by local students ages 12 to 19. Expect live music, vendors, and plenty of art on Courthouse Square and at Art on Park!

SEPTEMBER 7: Psych on the Park Art Show

It’s another art show – but this one is a bit…mind-bending? Psych on Park calls on local artists to submit their most psychedelic works. Catch live music at this Saturday show at 170 North Park Avenue, meet with the artists, and consider adding something a little groovy – or a little spooky – to your art collection.

SEPTEMBER 14: Oktoberfest on the Square

Grab your lederhosen! Its time for unlimited German and German-inspired food, and an impressive selection of local beer. In its 9th year, this late summer event is perfect for foodies and fans of tradition. Catch live entertainment and activities for all ages. Who knows, you might even get to stomp some grapes or blow an alp horn!

So, that’s summer on Courthouse Square – but just off the square, there’s even more happening in downtown Warren.

Tuesdays and Saturdays Year Round: Warren Flea and Farmer’s Market

This indoor and outdoor market at 428 Main Ave. in Warren has been open every Tuesday and Saturday year-round for nearly 40 years, and includes an outdoor pavilion. Saturdays June Through August: River Rock At The Amp

Get your rock ‘n roll on at the Amp starting with DIRTY DEEDS, an AC/DC Tribute Band, on June 1. This rocking concert series lights up the Warren Community Amphitheater most Saturdays until August 31 and includes tributes to Pink Floyd, Journey, and Queen. Food, drink, good music, and good times await!

All Summer Long: Special Events At Downtown Restaurants

And of course, all summer long you can catch special events at downtown Warren’s many fantastic restaurants. Look for live music at West & Main, taco nights at Beautiful Whirl’d, and special summer menus and evening events at Nova Coffee Co.
