Plan a perfect weekend at Mosquito Lake State Park: cast a line, kayak the 7,000-acre lake, hike forest trails, pitch a tent or yurt, and bring your pup.
Looking for the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors in Northeast Ohio? Spend the weekend at Mosquito Lake State Park, one of Trumbull County’s top destinations for recreation, camping, and family fun.

Boating, Kayaking & Paddling
At nearly 7,000 acres, Mosquito Lake is one of the largest lakes in Ohio, and it’s built for boating. The lake has multiple launch ramps and a full-service marina offering boat slips and seasonal rentals. Bring your own vessel or rent a pontoon or kayak and enjoy the open water all day long.
Paddlers can explore the shoreline’s quiet inlets, and you’ll often spot herons, bald eagles, or osprey along the way. Local outfitters like Twisted Creek or the marina near the dam can help you gear up.

Fishing at Mosquito Lake
Mosquito Lake is one of Northeast Ohio’s top year-round fishing destinations, attracting anglers for its abundant populations of walleye, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and northern pike. Whether you’re casting from the shoreline, fishing off the docks, or launching a boat from one of the lake’s many ramps, you’ll find no shortage of prime fishing spots.
The Mosquito Lake Marina offers seasonal boat rentals, bait, tackle, and fishing gear. In winter, the action doesn’t stop – ice fishing is popular when conditions are safe and the lake is fully frozen.

Trails, Hiking & Disc Golf
Mosquito Lake State Park offers over 14 miles of scenic trails that wind through woodlands, meadows, and along the shore of the lake. Perfect for hiking, trail running, biking, horseback riding, and even snowmobiling in winter. Popular paths include the Turkey Run Trail (5 miles), a multi-use route on the east side of the lake that offers access to hunting and fishing areas, and the Horse Trail (8.4 miles), which welcomes hikers, riders, and snowmobilers.
Inside the campground, the shorter Beaver Trail and Squirrel Run Trail are ideal for casual strolls or a quick nature escape. Leashed dogs are welcome on all trails, making it a great spot for outdoor-loving pet owners.
Looking for a fun group activity? Play a round at Squirrel Run Disc Golf Course, a free 18-hole course tucked into a shaded grove near the campground entrance. With both long and short tees, it’s beginner-friendly but still engaging for seasoned players. Open year-round, the course is BYOD – bring your own discs!

Camping, Cabins & Yurts
Make a weekend out of your visit! The Mosquito Lake State Park Campground features over 200 pet-friendly campsites for tents and RVs, including full-service, electric, and non-electric options. Many sites are shaded or offer serene lakeshore views, ideal for a peaceful escape into nature.
The campground also includes two lakeside yurts, available seasonally, and camper cabins that offer a cozy, elevated camping experience (perfect for glamping!). Group camp areas are also available for those visiting with friends, family, or clubs.
The campground is located at 3620 Hoagland Blackstub Road in Cortland, Ohio 44410, just minutes from trails, the beach, marina, and more. Reservations can be made through the Ohio State Parks website.

Dog Friendly Adventures
Your four-legged friend will love it here. Mosquito Lake is one of Ohio’s most dog-friendly state parks. Cooperation Station, the park’s fenced dog park, includes separate areas for small and large breeds, plus lake access for water-loving pups.
