From Stage to Stay: Your Guide to a Night at Trumbull New Theatre

Live performances never have to be for summer only!

A night filled with captivating performances, delicious dining, and a cozy stay in the heart of Trumbull County can happen any season. Trumbull New Theatre offers a memorable performance as part of your next overnight excursion in Northeast Ohio.

Pre-Show Dinner:

The best part of any mini vacation is the food! So before heading over to the theatre for a show, it’s best to fill up on some savory favorites. Vernon’s Café in Niles is a classic spot on the Italian Food Trail that has every Italian favorite you could ask for.

Every meal starts with a local specialty, hot peppers in oil and Italian greens, setting the stage for a delicious evening. Pair it with a heaping plate of cheesy ravioli or chicken parm, and you’ll feel full, warm, and ready to watch a show!

Trumbull New Theatre:

The next step is to head over to Trumbull New Theatre, or TNT, for a show! TNT was formed in 1948 as a self-supporting, amateur theatre company and landed at their current location in Niles starting in 1956. TNT is almost entirely volunteer based with scholarships for students and is entirely community-based and open to the public from acting roles to crew and design work. And did you know that seeing a show is proven to help relieve stress and tension?

Fun Fact: Dave Grohl, famously of Foo Fighters and Nirvana, has ties not just to Warren but to TNT! His father, James Grohl, performed on the TNT stage in 1960.

The season at TNT is just beginning, with Neil Simon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor running in the fall along with a production of 9 to 5 The Musical for all the Dolly Parton fans. The full season lasts until mid-May 2025.

Post-Show Drinks:

After a fantastic production at TNT, why not head to downtown Warren and stop by Modern Methods Brewing Company for a drink? The Darlene Lager is their classic brew that’s smooth and refreshing with a slight cinnamon buzz. The brewery is a perfect post-show stop to sip a drink, chat with the friendly staff about the show, and listen to some local live music.

Stay The Night:

After hanging out at Modern Methods you won’t have to go far to get to bed! In fact, you can literally walk around Courthouse Square in Warren over to the Best Western Park Hotel. So convenient!

Joe Before You Go:

The next morning you’ll need some fueling up before hitting the road! Walk next door to Nova Coffee Company to grab a caramel latte and a buckeye donut before heading home.

From tasty Italian traditions and crafted drinks to supporting the local theatre scene, it’s the perfect, mini trip to Trumbull County for a show.
