Ohio’s Firsts & Originals
We’ll kick-off 2026 by celebrating the unique contributions Trumbull County has had to Ohio and the nation as a whole honoring pioneers, innovators, and historical firsts in Trumbull County.
Key Experience
Newton Falls Covered Bridge – Built in 1831, this historic bridge is the second-oldest covered bridge in Ohio and the only one with a covered crosswalk. It’s a rare and charming glimpse into 19th-century engineering.
John Stark Edwards House & Museum – The oldest remaining house in Warren, this museum showcases artifacts from Trumbull County’s earliest settlers, including Edwards, one of the first landowners in the Western Reserve.
Harriet Taylor Upton House: This historic residence in Warren, Ohio, was home to suffragist Harriet Taylor Upton from 1887 to 1931. It also served as the headquarters for the National American Woman Suffrage Association from 1903 to 1905.
End of the Commons General Store: Established in 1840 in Mesopotamia, Ohio, this is the state’s oldest operating general store. It offers over 1,000 bulk food items, hard-to-find housewares, homemade fudge, and hand-dipped ice cream. Visitors can also enjoy meals at the Commons Café.
Braceville African American Museum – This museum aims to educate visitors about Braceville’s role in the Underground Railroad, and the Great Migration, and prominent figures such as heavyweight boxer Earnie Shavers and Negro League baseball player Ted Toles Jr. who were both born in Braceville.
Ohio Works: Innovation, Business & Work
February’s focus is on Trumbull County’s contribution to Ohio innovations and innovators, with National Invention Day and National Engineer’s week both occurring in February.
Key Experience
National Packard Museum – Warren, Ohio, is the birthplace of the Packard automobile, one of the earliest luxury car brands in the U.S. The Packard brothers built their first car here in 1899, pioneering innovations in engineering and design. The museum showcases historic Packard vehicles and their impact on the auto industry, as well as the other industries the Packard family influenced.
Ernie Hall Aviation Museum – Honoring Ernie Hall, one of the nation’s earliest aviators and flight instructors, this museum highlights the region’s contributions to aviation and aerospace with a variety of items honoring the history of regional, private, commercial, and military aviators.
National McKinley Birthplace Memorial – Located in Niles, this memorial honors President William McKinley, who was born in Ohio and served as the 25th U.S. president. Built in 1917, it features a library and museum.
Ohio Entertains: Music, Entertainment & Movies
Trumbull County offers a wide array of entertainment venues, theatres, drive-in movies, and more. Help us celebrate Trumbull County’s contribution to Ohio’s music, entertainment, and movie scene.
Key experiences
The Robins Theatre –The Robins Theatre is a 1,400 seat historic theatre in downtown Warren, Ohio that features live concerts, comedy shows, and theatrical performances. The Robins Theatre originally opened its doors on January 9, 1923.
Drive-In Theatres: Experience nostalgic cinema under the stars at Trumbull County’s two historic drive-ins. Elm Road Triple Drive-In Theatre, operating since 1950, offers three giant screens and a full dinner menu. Skyway Drive-In features twin screens and a 2,600-square-foot indoor laser tag arena.
W.D. Packard Music Hall: Located in Warren, Ohio, this versatile venue offers 7,000 square feet of space and seating for nearly 2,500 guests. It hosts a variety of cultural and entertainment events, including concerts, trade shows, and performances.
Trumbull New Theatre: Established in 1948 in Niles, Ohio, this community-driven amateur theater offers opportunities for all ages to engage in performing arts, from acting to stagecraft. With a diverse range of productions, it fosters local talent and enriches the cultural landscape.
Yankee Lake Ballroom: Built in 1928, this historic venue in Yankee Lake, Ohio, has hosted renowned jazz bands of the 1930s and ’40s, drawing crowds of over 4,000. Today, it continues to offer live music events, including the “Country at The Boot” concert series.
Ohio Moves: Transportation
Trumbull County looks to transportation and how it moves the world on land and in space. Join us as we celebrate Trumbull County’s impact from canals to space and every mode of transportation in between.
Key Experiences
First Flight Lunar Module Replica – A tribute to Ohio’s aviation legacy, this half-scale replica of Apollo 11’s lunar landing module commemorates the first moon landing and the contributions of Ohio-born astronauts.
Ohio Creates: Arts, Culture, & Literature
May’s theme will celebrate Ohio’s amazing symphonies, museums, artists, and more. It will include Ohio Goes to the Movies and Ohio Arts Council programming, among other experiences.

Ohio Outdoors: Exploring Ohio’s Natural Resources
In June, we’ll celebrate the great resources we have – Lake Erie, Ohio River, 76 State Parks, miles of trails for biking and hiking.

Beautiful Ohio statewide tourism trail and The Great Ohio Bike Adventure 2026 will run along U.S. Route 250.
Ohio Gathers: Statewide Homecoming & Picnics
Family and friends will gather for the 4th of July. We’re going to celebrate by providing them with an Ohio-themed Homecoming Kit that will be both fun and educational.

Ohio Goes To The Fair – The Ohio State Fair & County Fairs
In 2026, The Ohio State Fair will be a way all Ohioans can celebrate the 250th anniversary as we unearth the bicentennial time capsule and create a new one for the next generation.
Key experiences:
Opening the 1976-time capsule buried on the Ohio state fairgrounds, the opening of the Ohio History experience at the fair.
Ohio Plays – Sports & Recreation
September’s theme will embrace sports of all sorts – from peewee to professional sports teams and Ohio’s incredible contribution to athletics.

October is the month of harvest, and we’ll celebrate Ohio’s contributions through Agriculture through all of the amazing Ohio fall activities – AM 250-OH corn maze anyone?

Ohio Serves: Remembering Veterans, First Responders & Front-Line Heroes
We’ll recognize Ohio’s contribution of those who serve on the front lines daily as firefighters, police officers, and medical professionals. Veteran’s Day 2026 will be a focal point.

Future Ohio: Projecting Ohio In 2076
In December, we’ll cap off the year-long celebration by looking forward to the future to prepare for Ohio’s leadership in the next 50 years.
