WARREN, OH – Trumbull County Tourism announced it has earned two State Marketing Awards – Citation of Excellence at the Ohio Conference on Travel recently. The honors recognize the organization’s continued focus on driving incremental travel to the county. Trumbull Tourism was listed alongside leading Ohio destinations. This included Shores & Islands, Destination Cleveland, Visit Dublin, and Experience Columbus, in these categories.
“In recent years, our organization has been consistently recognized, both nationally and statewide, for effective, creative marketing that, as a result, continues to attract visitors to our communities,” said Beth Kotwis Carmichael, CEO. “Additionally, these new awards reinforce that momentum and, importantly, underscore responsible stewardship of lodging tax dollars paid when visitors stay in our hotels.”
These projects hit the mark for their authentic, results-driven marketing:
- Category: Blogs (Truly Trumbull Stories: Hauntings, History and Heritage)
This blog series paired local stories with digital marketing. Each post aligned with seasonal messaging and then we promoted it through segmented email, short-form video, and social media storytelling. - Category: Digital Marketing (Trumbull, In Your Inbox)
This win recognized their email-driven campaign strategy, which boosted the 60-Mile Yard Sale and guided friends and family visitors to fall & holiday activities.
The Numbers Behind it All
Notably, Trumbull Tourism’s marketing campaigns delivered outsized results. Specifically, an independent, third-party study confirms that its efforts return $286 in visitor spending for every $1 spent, influencing over 76,000 trips, which represent over $80 million in direct visitor spending, all because someone saw one or more of their advertisements.
Moreover, Trumbull Tourism’s strategy prioritizes data-informed media placement, place-based stories, and strong partner collaboration, ultimately turning awareness into trips, spending, and short-term economic development across the county.
